    • Free Assistance for homeowners affected by the disaster.
    • Volunteers may be able to assist with Storm Debris Cleanup, Temporary Roof Tarping, Chainsaw work and Muck outs

  •  Individual Assistance (IA): This is available to individuals and households in need of financial and direct services who have uninsured or underinsured necessary expenses and serious needs. Impacted individuals with insurance are encouraged to apply. Additionally, businesses are recommended to start this process to get to the Small Business Association (SBA) loans and tools.

  • FEMA ICC Compliance: If your home or business is damaged by a flood, you may be required to meet certain building requirements in your community to reduce future flood damage before you repair or rebuild. To help you cover the costs of meeting those requirements, the National Flood Insurance Program offers Increased Cost of Compliance (ICC) coverage

A: Residents should be aware that con artists and criminals may try to obtain money or steal personal information through fraud or identity theft after natural disasters. If you did not apply for assistance but received a letter from FEMA, please call the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362. Or visit Visit: www.myfloridalegal.com

A: The City of Fort Myers is suspending residential and commercial solid waste collections until Monday, October 14th. Commercial and residential trash collection will resume at that time. Debris collection will be picked-up by City of Fort Myers contractors starting Monday with no particular route schedule. Updates can be found → https://www.cityftmyers.com/1914/Hurricane-Center  

Solid Waste will collect three types of storm debris. Each type must be in a separate pile for collection and will be collected in multiple passes:  Do not place storm debris into bags.

  • Construction and demolition debris: This includes carpet, furniture, drywall and other materials resulting from storm damage to homes and structures.
  • Vegetation: This includes tree branches, palm fronds, logs, and plants. Vegetative debris should not be placed in plastic bags and can be left at the curb.

Appliances: Please leave appliances at the curb with all food removed.

A: You don’t need to finalize your insurance claim before putting your house on the market in Florida, but you must disclose any open claims to potential buyers. Some sellers assign the claim benefits to the buyer, allowing them to handle repairs. Completing repairs before listing can increase your home’s appeal.

A: No you do not, as of October 12th, 2024 this restriction has been lifted, however, roads should be handled with extreme caution while there is clean up in progress.

A: Get in touch with your accountant, because we were impacted by a natural disaster, there may be tax advantages regarding loss of value on your home.
